Bert developed the original Cambridge System and founded Cambridge Connection, Inc. and Cambridge Advisors.
Bert was born in Bisbee, Arizona. His financial career began as a runner and board boy for the local E.F. Hutton agency when he was 12 years old.

He has a B.A. in Psychology, an M.B.A. in finance, and a law degree. He started practicing as za tax attorney and fee-only financial planner serving primarily executives, professionals, and small business owners in 1972.

Bert organized Cambridge Connection, Inc. in 1983, using a holistic approach to fee-only tax and financial advisory services. He currently personally advises clients across the country.

In 1995 Bert formed a new organization, Cambridge Advisors, LLC, to train financial advisors on a national basis in the Cambridge approach to holistic fee-only financial planning. Now known as the Alliance of Cambridge Advisors, over 200 advisors have been trained in the Cambridge System™, with classes offered on an ongoing basis.He is the author of “Facing Financial Dysfunction: Why Smart People Do Stupid Things With Money” and nine other books relating to personal finance.

Bert has been selected by Worth Magazine as one of the best 100 personal financial advisors in the United States every year since 1994. He is regularly quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, Money Magazine, Kiplinger’s, Forbes, New York Times, Washington Post, Investment News, Bloomberg, U.S. News & World Report, Investment Advisor, and Detroit News/Free Press. He has also been a guest on Fox Money Line.

Bert was also featured on P.B.S. television on a one-hour special to be run nationwide in 2007 titled “Overcoming Financial Dysfunction.”
